Which Foods To Avoid In High Cholesterol

The most important factor responsible for high cholesterol is fat. There are “Bad” saturated fat and trans fat which increase the dangerous LDL cholesterol that can lead to plaque buildup in the arteries whereas “Good” unsaturated fat helps lower LDL cholesterol and raise beneficial HDL cholesterol, which can remove LDL cholesterol and help keep arteries clear. So to control cholesterol, getting the right amount of fat in our diet is important.

Which foods to avoid in high Cholesterol:

1)Always avoid greasy deep fried stuff. Not only deep frying making food more calorie dense, but the oils that foods are fried in are often high in trans fats, the worst offenders. If you are foodie and can't avoid fried foods then consider using olive or sunflower oil when frying.

2)Eat packaged foods such as cookies, pastries, mayonnaise, crackers, microwave popcorn, and frozen dinners etc. by checking food labels carefully. check the ingredients list carefully,if you see the word ’hydrogenated,’ don’t buy it.

3)Meat and Liver contain unhealthy saturated fats. Try to reduce the amount of meat in your diet.

4)Avoid full-fat ice cream, cheese, whole milk, and whole-fat yogurt. Choose dairy products that are fat-free, made with 2 percent milk, or part skim.

5)Baked goods, such as cookies, cakes, muffins, pastries, candies and other packaged foods, sweetened beverages like, soda, juices, energy drinks and other sugary drinks lead to weight gain and inflammation, which can negatively impact your cholesterol levels.

6)Too much alcohol raises your blood pressure and triglyceride levels. Research shows that higher levels of consumption increase the risk of developing heart issues, beginning at 30 grams per day for women and 45 grams per day for men.
